Social Skills Program
Advanced Language Group
Advanced language group is designed for children with adequate to strong verbal communication who have deficits in social language and behavioral skills. This program will target group play behaviors through activities that build team work, story-telling skills, group discussion, group problem solving, team spirit and the following of directions. Activities are directed by a skilled team of occupational and speech therapists along with trained volunteers and staff.
Blue Group: Saturday Morning
This group requires some prior exposure to social skills training. Activities will target transition from social skills theory to spontaneous practice, through role play and community integration.
Yellow Group: Saturday Morning
This group targets structured activites to introduce and teach a variety of social skills. Participants will talk about, read about, write about, and discuss the basic foundation of social interaction.
Intermediate Language Group: Saturday Morning
This group is designed for children who have basic to emerging verbal communications and play skills. Targets will include the elicitation of routine social communication in structured and natural settings, as well as the development of play and interaction with others. Activities are directed by a skilled team of occupational and speech therapists along with trained volunteers and staff.
Parent Support Group
Our parent support group meets during Saturday morning and Tuesday night groups. The group is facilitated by a social worker and activities are developed by the group as a whole. These groups provide support and friendship for parents who have children with special needs. We also have speakers in various areas of expertise. All parents are invited to attend the group, with childcare provided in the lobby.

Tween Boy Group
The Tween Boy Group is designed for children with strong verbal communications. The group will focus on peer on peer interactions through teamwork, group problem-solving, and direct one-on-one role playing with peers. The Group will incorporate life skills, movement and exercise along with the social interactions. The Group is directed by a skilled Occupational Therarpist and a Speech Therapist along with a host of volunteers to help facilitate. This Group meets on Tuesday nights.
Pre-School Social Skills Group
The Pre-School Social Skills Group is designed for preschool aged children who have emerging to strong verbal communication skills, and have needs in the areas of social communication and behavior. Groups will target age appropriate social skills, such as body awareness, having basic conversations, taking turns, behaving as part of a group, and pretend play. These skills are targeted through structured and unstructured play activities, and are directed by a skilled team of occupational and speech therapists, along with trained volunteers and staff.
